Sparaxia tricolor is native to the Cape Provinces of South Africa.

Plants typically <40 cm with corms, strap-like leaves. Corms have a distinctive white, fibrous tunic. Flowers showy. Tepals are subequal, circa 3 cm long, bright orange with w yellow heart-shaped mark at their base and a dark reddish brown band at their tip.
