Mexico, Central-, and South America

Prostrate perennial forb with sessile ovate, obovate, or oval leaves, usually <2.5 x 1.5 cm. Stems prostrate or procumbent, villose. Inflorescenses axillary and sessile, white or stramineous. Bracts shorter than tepals. Tepals dimorphic spine-tipped, and with barbed hairs. Seeds ovate and 1-1.5mm long.
