Deciduous shrub. Grows to a height of up to 5m. Stems are long and pendulous..Leaves alternate, entire, and lanceolate (4–10 cm long by 0.6–1 cm wide). Flowers in clusters along branch; purple or cream.
Buddleja alternifolia was introduced in the early 1900's as an ornamental and has since become very popular, especially in Great Britain. The cultivar most commonly sold is Buddleja alternifolia 'Argentea'.
